University Library

The University’s library consists of the Central University Library (Zentrale Universitätsbibliothek) at the Berthold-Beitz-Platz, the old University’s Library in the Rubenowstraße, the divisional library at the “Schießwall” and several specialised libraries in the departments and institutes.

The basis for the admission to use of the University’s Library is the “Benutzungsordnung” (terms of use). Primarily the University’s Library has to provide literature and other media for all university’s members.
The University’s library is also open to the public.

The use of the Central University Library at the Berthold-Beitz-Platz is divided in two parts:

Open stacks can be used within the library without a library card.
Closed stacks and the lending of books are only available with a library card.

The application for a library card has to be made at the helpdesk in the Central University Library.
For the application of a library card it is neccessary to present the following documents:
  • filled application form (see link on the sidebar)
  • passport or ID card
